Beschreibung:

How should organisation's approach the protection of their data and communications? Gone are the days of the inhouse IT support and locked down office computers.  A modern organisation operates all across the world and uses primarily the internet to organise and communicate. This introduces all kinds of threats and vulnerabilities and places a great deal of responsibility on employees.

A recent survey published in Business News Daily found that:

"[...] the   verdict was clear: employees are the weakest link in the security chain. [...] senior management may be the  biggest threat to an organization's digital well-being."[1]

In this session we will dive into how Tactical Tech treats organisational security, and our plans to make it even better.  Through our experience  working and collaborating with many organisations in the past years as well as examining our own habits, we have noticed that most  organisations function in such a way that they put security as an  afterthought.

In this presentation, we will dive into how Tactical Tech treats organisational  security, and our plans to make it even better. Through our experience  working and collaborating with many organisations in  the past years as  well as examining our own habits, we have noticed  that most  organisations function in such a way that they put security as an  afterthought. We have put considerable thought and effort into developing processes where security is built into the base layer of how we operate.  While this has meant a compromise in convenience for a lot of things, it has proven to be an enlightening and informative process.

We will talk about our technical infrastructure and how it has changed the ways that we work and communicate, as well as the challenges that these systems have brought up for us.  We will also cover how we go about seeking help and the resources we have to make everything happen.

We will be examining computer habits of individuals and how to encourage the use of particular tools to increase security for the organisation, as well as the specific reasons for each.

We will cover the specific tools and tricks that we use for:

  • Document storage and archiving
  • Communication
  • The ten basic steps to drastically increase security
  • Weaning colleagues off their favourite (but least safe) tools
  • Creating your infrastructure in such a way that it must be used securely
