Maker Cultures and industrial innovation processes seem to have little in common. Whilst maker approaches are based on openness and social collaboration, the industrial approaches are based on strive for economic profit and protection of trademarks and proprietary rights. This session will take a look behind the scenes of both industrial and maker innovation processes and discuss the questions which approach is more relevant to economic development. What do the approaches have in common? How can makers and industrial innovation designers collaborate? And where are these two worlds to far apart to collide?
