Born in 1969, in Istanbul. Graduated of the Department of French Philology from the University of Istanbul. Journalist since 1995 among the IPS Communication Foundation. Correspondent since 1996 for Paris-based NGO, Reporters Without Borders (RSF). Excepting an interval of two years, he is working as journalists-researchers for bianet.org news website (based in Istanbul), in the field of press freedom and freedom of expression in Turkey.

He is in charge of quarterly and annual chronological report on freedom of expression in the country. So far, he signed over 4,600 articles. He also writes for the monthly Güncel Hukuk (Contemporary Law)  and also preparing the database on "Imprisoned journalists" for the office of the Representative for Freedom of the media in the OSCE.
