Clémence de Montgolfier

Clémence de Montgolfier is a young artist and writer. She obtained an MFA from Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Art d’Angers in 2011, an MA in cultural studies from Université de Paris I panthéon-Sorbonne in 2012, and is now a PhD student in media and communication studies at Université de Paris III Sorbonne-Nouvelle where she is writing her dissertation on the relationship between art, television, and democracy in contemporary France. She is co-founder of The Big Conversation Space an art, research, and consulting organization based in Paris and San Francisco that acts as a production platform for books, media, and games involving free speech, art, technology, politics, and philosophy. TBCS has exhibited and lectured internationally at venues including San Francisco Art Institute, Palais Tokyo (Paris), TCB Gallery (Mellbourne, Australia), Yerba Buena Center for the Art (San Francisco), The Office (Berlin)/Le Bureau(Paris) and was an artist in residence at Centre d’Art Contemporain de la Synagogue de Delme (Delme, France). Since 2009, she is also and a member of the Speech and What Archive group, an art collective that explores the questions of "what you can say" and "what you can keep" via publications, performances, and research. She lives and works in Paris, France.
